Cats have been admired as sacred since the beginning of time…

In European folklore, familiars are supernatural entities who assist witches with their magic. Familiars are household pets, usually cats, who serve as your companion and guide.

Cats are incredibly intuitive creatures. While dogs protect us in the physical realm, we believe cats protect us in the spiritual realm.

So, how does one find their familiar? Assisting you in finding your familiar feline is our soul’s purpose. Facilitating meaningful adoption is our life’s work!

Six miles south of where our founder was born in Easton, Pennsylvania, lies Hexankopf Rock, meaning “witches’ head”. The legend of Hexankopf rock is steeped in folk legend and superstitions. Wildflowers and medicinal herbs and plants still grow on and around the rock and animal spirits have been long associated with this location.

Folk magic inspired our name, but you certainly do not need to resonate with these traditions in order to adopt a familiar feline.

We welcome all traditions, races, religions, languages, orientations, and gender identities to join us in creating a mindful approach to adoption.

Today, our cat rescue is a foster based network residing in sunny San Diego, California on Kumeyaay land. The same mild climate that makes San Diego so beautiful, unfortunately directly contributes to our overpopulation of cats. Overpopulation is the number one cause of death in otherwise healthy cats.

Approximately 2 million cats are euthanized in shelters and animal control facilities every year. Our organization is entirely volunteer, working to protect and advocate for felines in need. Our mission is to remove cats and kittens from overcrowded shelters where they are considered at risk for euthanasia. Then, they are placed in temporary foster homes where they are provided with exceptional loving care as well as medical treatment so they can find their forever homes. Our vision is to collaborate with other like-minded individuals and organizations to end euthanasia as a means of population control and to eliminate pet homelessness.
